Alberta Sappers Club

The “Sappers Club” originated in Edmonton in 1945 as a club consisting interested and industrious veterans of the 9th Army Troop Company RCE later to include all Engineers both serving and retired. The club has survived and flourished over the years despite the loss over time through the passing and disabilities of many of the original stalwarts.
Objectives of the club include the perpetuation of the memory of the RCE and the CME, the demonstration of concern for the well being of all sappers, their comrades and their families, a sharing of memories and manifestation of the pride of being an engineer. Wives of members are kept on as lifetime members without further payment of dues should they be pre-deceased by their husbands.
Today the Sappers Club has approximately 200 full and honorary members.
The club has held its annual reunion in several locations, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Calgary and Vernon BC. The three day reunion includes various social events, the annual general meeting and a memorial service. The Edmonton members have a monthly luncheon. The Sappers Club also publishes a periodic newsletter and distributes these to its members and various sapper groups throughout Canada.
The club continues to grow with many younger serving engineers choosing to join. This further increases comradeship and promotes happy and nostalgic meetings and social gatherings.
Membership fees are only five dollars annually and all engineers are invited to join.

The Edmonton Monthly Luncheons are at noon on the last Wednesday of every month at the Norwood Legion. Visitors are more than welcome.
